So I grabbed a bottle of Flip Flop Pinot Grigio at the grocery store. I paid five bucks and after drinking the whole bottle I can say it was pretty good. Not the best Pinot Grizzy ( hip for Grigio) but definitely worth the amount I paid for it. Do yourself a favor and eat with seafood.
The wine is a little bitter at first but then settles buttery and smooth. Pinot Grigio is a great cocktail wine and pairs extremely well with seafood prepared in a creamy butter sauce; or a buttery cream sauce. Either way…butter and cream will work. Avoid eating citrus fruits and tomatoes with Pinot Grigio; the acids will clash and you may miss the intent of the win and that would be sad.
Pinot Grigio is a light crisp wine that should be consumed early on. The flavors can range from pear to melon. The Flip Flop Pinot Grigio tastes like apples and pears to me. As far as color, a good Pinot should be a pale straw color with golden hues throughout. The texture is smooth and silky and leaves a wonderful impression on the palate.
There’s really nothing complex about this wine. If you enjoy a light-bodied white wine that is forgiving on the pockets, check it out. Wine aside, there is something fantastic going on with the Flip Flop brand. For every bottle of Flip Flop wine purchased, Soles4Souls will give a pair of shoes to someone in need. Now that’s what’s up!
